City Invites Everyone to "Walk To Be Well"
It’s free, easy and fun.
The holidays likely got the better of most of us as we overindulged on tasty food and engaged in little to no exercise. Don’t beat yourself up over it. The new year is a perfect time to get back into the swing of things or start a new routine. Don’t know where or how to get started? The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department can help.
The important thing is to get started on a fitness program that is easy and can help you stay the course. You can do it! Everyone is encouraged to join us for one year as we start on a new walking program. It’s free!
The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department’s ‘Walk to Be Well’ program will walk participants through simple health and fitness steps. Monthly walks will be hosted at 9am on the second Saturday of each month near the pavilion at the Salinas Park, located at 1354 Airport Road (78405). Join us for the first walk on January 11, 2014. Before each walk a doctor will make a brief (less than five minutes) presentation on a health topic and then join the walkers as they all make their way around the Salinas Park trail. This is perfect for people who don’t like to go it alone. It is a proven fact that some people stick with their fitness program when it is done with others. Plus it’s more fun that way and the time passes quickly.
This program was inspired by the book entitled A Year of Being Well. To learn more, visit www.bewellbook.org .
