Variable Salinity Desalination Demonstration Project 46
The City of Corpus Christi is joining efforts with federal and state governments, local industry and the Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation to implement a demonstration desalination facility. This initiative will provide information about desalination technology options, source water quality, energy requirements, environmental impacts, beneficial uses of brine and cost to implement a full scale facility. The City’s interest regarding alternative desalination and brine management technologies and products is to ensure that proven and cost-effective options are considered.
The proposed demonstration facility will have a production capacity of approximately 200,000 gallons per day and will be operated over a 12 to 18 month period to obtain source water quality and equipment performance data. The facility will include testing bays for performance verification of alternative desalination and brine management technologies and products.
Parties interested in participating in the demonstration are encouraged to complete and submit a Technologies Information Request Form, which can be found at www.publicpurchase.com. The deadline for submittal is July 18, 2014 at 5:00 PM (Central Standard Time). Forms received by this deadline will be reviewed and scored against a pre-determined set of evaluation criteria. Forms may be accepted after the deadline, however, the project team cannot guarantee review of those applications.
